The anti-Jihad and anti-Sharia Conference in Nashville has been cancelled due to supposed THREATS to the hotel. More than likely, it is because the hotel does not like the particular “point of view” that was to be presented on November 11th.
The Preserving Freedom Conference was to be held at the Hutton Hotel in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The hotel executive, Steve Eckley, Senior Vice-President of Hutton Hotel, told conference organizers on Monday that he had been receiving threatening letters and calls.
In reality, Eckley has caved to Sharia Law, which demands submission by non-Muslims. If every hotel manager was worried about what speakers might say at hotel conferences, no one would have the freedom to say anything at conference centers.
As referenced on the Shariafreeusa website, “Steve Eckley should have been strong on behalf of freedom of speech and religious expression and not have caved to the demand of Islamists. His company owns numerous other hotels including one in London that holds conferences promoting Sharia finance and Sharia compliant life insurance.”
Christian Newswire reports that William J. Murray, chairman of the Sharia Awareness Action Network, the conference organizer, says the Hutton Hotel cannot get its story straight about why it cancelled the “Constitution or Sharia: Preserving Freedom Conference,” scheduled for November 11th.
Murray relayed: “In an October 11 letter to Lou Ann Zelenick of The Tennessee Freedom Coalition, Stephen W. Eckley of Amerimar Enterprises, which owns the Hutton wrote: ‘If you had made us aware at the outset what the content of the meeting was and that at least two of your speakers have a history of engaging people to the point that violence has been imminent, we would not have accepted the booking.’”

Quite frankly, this is a FREE SPEECH issue! The Hutton Hotel has NO right to cancel an event because it does not like the point of view presented.
According to Jihad Watch, “In cancelling the conference because it received threats, the Hutton Hotel is kowtowing to violence and showing that terrorism works, instead of doing what it should do: stand resolutely against violent intimidation. The conference was to be well-guarded, and the hotel knew this.”
“The hotel’s cancellation of the event is part of the ongoing efforts by Islamic supremacist groups to force non-Muslims to enforce Islamic blasphemy laws and to acquiesce to the Islamization of the public square. They have been pursuing such efforts in the U.S. and Europe for years.”

The Preserving Freedom Conference was to feature Pam Geller as a keynote speaker, along with Robert Spencer, Wafa Sultan, Mark Durie, William Murray, Father Keith Roderick, and many voices for freedom.
Pam Geller, the keynote speaker told: “The silencing of free speech is key to the Islamization of America!” “My defense of freedom of speech and freedom of conscience enrages Islamic supremacists to the point of violence, and this is our fault?”

Bill Murray explained, “Charging that two of our speakers have a history of enraging people to the point that ‘violence is imminent’ is absurd and libelous. None of our speakers has ever advocated violence! There are people who will respond with violence to virtually any idea, concept, or event including beating opponent’s fans at baseball games. The outside possibility of a violent reaction from a small minority is no reason to cancel any conference, meeting or sports event in this nation.”
The Constitution or Sharia: Preserving Freedom Conference was to be the first major national conference on Sharia and the Islamization of America sponsored by major freedom oriented organizations, including Conservative Action Alerts! This was not just another educational conference. Participants were to go away from this historic conference with an understanding of how to fight the advance of Sharia Law in the United States.
As a Co-Sponsor, we had committed to pay for some of the expenses for this extraordinary event! You see, we believe very passionately against Sharia. We wanted to be a part, no matter what! My hope is that the hotel executive will understand and feel the heat of the Conservative pressure to re-affirm or re-schedule the conference.
According to Murray, “Mat Staver, Dean of the Liberty University Law School – who was to speak to the Conference – is assessing our options and a demand letter (to the hotel management) will be forthcoming!”
Murray promised that conference organizers will pursue all avenues to compel that Hutton will abide by its binding contract, which cannot be legally abrogated by one party.
